Beth Bierbower

Elizabeth Bierbower (Beth) is a strategic leader with more than thirty years of proven executive level experience in the health insurance industry with experience in all product lines including Commercial, Medicare Advantageand TRICARE. Beth possesses a deep understanding of both traditional managed care models as well as merging models such as value-based care. She is known for her ability to identify and capitalize on emerging trends such as consumerism and digital technology and for creating strategic partnerships with companies to drive scale and growth.

Beth previously served on the Board of Iora Health and the American Telemedicine Association where she was a member of the Education and Finance Committees. Beth currently serves on the Boards of BlueSprig, a provider of ABA therapy to individuals with Autism; Quest Analytics, a provider network analytics company; Paradigm Corp., which provides catastrophic and case management services to injured workers; and OptionCare Health, the nation’s largest provider of home infusion services. Beth is a graduate of the Nashville Healthcare Fellows Program and was formerly an adjunct Professor at Carnegie Mellon University. As an internal champion for developing talent, Beth served on Humana’s Inclusion & Diversity Council and co-chaired the two largest internal diversity networking groups. She participated on the Associate Benefits Committee, which oversaw $200M annually in medical spend and she has been called upon as an industry benefits expert. As Segment President and a member of Humana’s Executive Management Team, Beth was asked to develop anew division within the company that would create a new operating model and customer experience using leading edge technologies and practices to serve the Medicare Advantage population. Previously, Beth was President of the Group and Specialty Segment generating over $7B in revenue and covering 11 million individual, employer group and Military health members. Under her leadership, Humana won the largest TRICARE medical contract in the history of Military medicine valued at $40B.

Previously Beth held the position of Chief Operating Officer of Humana’s Specialty Benefits division and was an Enterprise Vice President leading Humana’s Product Development and Innovation teams. She has also held leadership roles with Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield as Vice President, Healthcare Strategy and Chief Operating Officer for Coventry Health Plans in Pittsburgh, PA. Known as a fiscally responsible leader, Beth has developed and executed profitable business growth strategies while creating administrative cost efficiencies. She has a record of driving internal innovation through new products and services and by creating partnerships with entrepreneurial and technology companies to deliver leading edge capabilities inside complex organizations. Her energy, drive, and willingness to challenge the status quo have earned her the reputation as one of the industry’s most progressive leaders. Serving as a Director on several company Boards (Option Care Health, BlueSprig, Paradigm Corp., QuestAnalytics), Beth brings the payor perspective into the Board Room and helps guide strategies for working with payors. She also serves on various Board Committees including Audit, Quality and Compliance andCompensation.

Beth holds a Master’s degree in Public Management from Carnegie Mellon University where she graduated with highest honors. She is a published author of the books Engage! A guide to engaging your consumers in their health and Busy Bee: Queen Bee. Beth is a frequent speaker on healthcare and leadership topics and hosts a podcast called B-Time.
